Inspection of "foul water drainage prior to backfilling" is a key Building Control visit. The drains need to be connected and working but exposed. In some instances they might need to be tested. My building inspector was happy with my installation and I was cleared to cover them up. There needed to be another 100 mm layer of the 10 mm gravel to protect the pipes and then I could backfill with the earth that had been removed. We also had some more discussions about the next stages of the project. The walls could now be built up and the RSJs could be installed. The plans from the structural engineer had already been approved by Building Control so an inspection of the fitted beams would be the next visit.
